Corri-Lynn Tetz

Artist Profile

Corri-Lynn Tetz (b. 1977, Calgary, Canada). Lives and works in Montreal, Canada.

Corri-Lynn Tetz is a painter who works in oil on canvas. Her subject is the female figure, through which she explores identity, sensation and desire. She paints from an archive of found images and her own photographs.

Her sources include fashion photography, film, pornography and photographs she takes in her studio. She paints quickly and intuitively, with unexpected colour and loosely defined forms, so that each figure moves away from its source and sits between representation and abstraction. The paintings in Art Lover (2021) showed figures painted largely in blues and greys. Her most recent series depicts women dancing. For Chrysalis (2026), 167.6 × 152.4 cm, she photographed a trained dancer performing in her studio, then painted the background in washes of oil and spray paint.

Tetz studied at Red Deer College and at Emily Carr University, Vancouver, where she received her BFA in 2003. She completed an MFA in Studio Arts at Concordia University, Montreal, in 2015. She was a finalist for the RBC Painting Competition in 2012. She has received fellowships from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. Her first institutional solo exhibition, Art Lover, was held at Contemporary Calgary in 2021. Solo exhibitions followed at Arsenal Contemporary, New York (2022), Anat Ebgi, Los Angeles (2023) and 12.26, Dallas (2025). Her first European solo exhibition, Tender Buttons, opened at Sim Smith, London, in 2024. In 2026 Blouin Division presented her work at The Armory Show, New York.

Her work is held in the Majudia Collection, the Senvest Collection and the Shulamit Nazarian collection.
